Client Copies

_ How can I update/change my client's address to receive their magazine copies? _

Updating your client's mailing address for magazine distribution has to be done in ARC:

  1. Distribution
  2. Additional Readers
  3. Search client + click on address
  4. Update and Save

_ How do I increase/decrease the number of copies my client receives? _

You can edit the number of copies your clients receive in ARC:

  1. Distribution
  2. Click Additional Readers
  3. Select the client's name
  4. Update the number of copies
  5. Save

Please note if a client needs more than 15 copies each month, you as the publisher need to include those extra copies as part of your publisher copies received each month and hand deliver or mail them directly to the client.

_ Why is my client not receiving my magazine? _

First you will want to confirm the recipient is listed Arc under Distribution > Additional Readers and their address is listed correctly. 

If the recipient is listed in Arc with the correct address, please send the recipient name(s) and address(s) in a ticket for verification from our distribution team. (Reminder, our team cannot verify distribution until after the 5th of the month.)

_ How do I remove an address from my mailing list? _

Take the following steps to remove an address from your mailing list:

  1. Distribution
  2. Exclusion List
  3. Add Address
  4. Enter the address
  5. Save

_ Can I get a copy of the mailing receipt for my magazines? _

The USPS does not provide us with a mailing receipt. All mailing paperwork and postages have been submitted electronically and correspond to the barcoding on the pallet labels at the facility. Therefore, this is an internal process we coordinate for you and, as such, there is no mailing receipt to provide.

_ Can I change my distribution routes? I would like to add an additional zip code to my distribution. _

You are allowed to change distribution (routes within current zip codes, not quantity) once per year. as specified under Tier Benefits located on the publisher’s dashboard in Arc.

  • If your magazine is Bronze/Silver Tier the charge to complete this is $500.
  • If your magazine is Gold, there is no charge.
  • If your magazine is Platinum or ABOVE, the quantity can be increased up to 10,000 within the current zip code. Additional zip codes are not added.

If you would like to make changes to your distribution, please submit a ticket to get this information to our distribution team outlining the sub divisions and/or neighborhoods in the area that you would like to have reviewed.


Media Kits

_ Can I change the home value listed in my media kit? _

The home value information included in your media kit is sourced directly from the U.S. Government’s monthly data reporting. Please review your supplied overview. The data on this overview contains supplied averages of each postal route. 

If the numbers on your media kit do not reflect the values believed to be accurate for the mailing postal routes, please provide a few addresses within your routes where homes have sold for the​ maximum value you're asking to be listed on the media kit. We’ll be happy to verify and make adjustments as needed. Many of our publishers obtain this information from their real estate partners.​

It’s essential to emphasize that the home must have sold for the specified price, not simply be listed at that price. City Lifestyle participates in the CVC verification process for truth in publishing, so all claims on our media kits must be verifiable during the annual audits.

You may want to use Zillow to look for homes that are of the highest value if you do not have a real estate partner. 

We use Zillow as a tool to easily verify individual address sale information - looking for specific address information - basically a spot check when asked to research a specific address. HOWEVER; we also check two other sources for validity.

_ How do I order additional media kits? _

Additional Media Kits can be ordered through ARC under Training and Documents, click the Order Materials tab. Please keep in mind the minimum amount of media kits you can order is 200.


Print Quality

_ Why is the white border on my cover not even all the way around? _

It is normal with the processes it takes for magazines to be produced for the white border to not be completely even around the cover as there are tolerances to the left and the right. If you are concerned about an extreme error in border sizing, please submit a ticket with images for our team to review.

_ Is my magazine bound or stapled? _

All magazines at 36 and 40 pages will be saddle stitched (stapled). Once the publication reaches 44 pages the magazine will be perfectly bound. 

_ Why does my magazine only have two staples? _

We understand that your magazine only has two staples and that is perfectly normal. We use two staples on all of the saddle stitched magazines.

_ I am having an issue with the print quality of my magazine - color is to dark, cover was blurry, magazine was not bound evenly, etc. _

Quality is our cornerstone. In order to investigate, we need the following information submitted in a ticket:

  • Is it a publisher copy, a business copy or a residential copy?
  • If a publisher copy, how many have this problem? (Estimated number is fine.)
  • If a business or residential copy, please send the address(s) associated with this so we can check the mail list for location.
  • Include photos of your concerns.

_ Why is the mailing label upside down on my magazines? _

The mailing labels are actually supposed to be upside down as it is required by the post office in order to receive the best mailing rates.

_ Can I change the cover coating/texture on my magazine? Can I change my cover from gloss to matte? _

Cover coating changes can be made once per year. If you would like to change your coating please submit a ticket so we can verify your magazine tier and access to adjust. Please include in the ticket:

  • Duration of the coating change (March issue only, from here forward, etc.)
  • Confirm the current coating and what you would like it changed to- Now: Matte, Change: to Gloss

Once tier/ability to change is verified, the National Support team change make this change for you.


Publisher Copies

_ How do I change my address for my publisher copies? _

You can change the address to which you receive your publisher copies in ARC:

  1. Distribution
  2. Additional Readers
  3. Under "My Copies" click on your address to update

_ Who can receive publisher copies? _

Other than a publisher, one other party on your team can receive publisher copies such as your assistant or editor. You can complete this request in ARC by updating your address information.

_ When will my publisher copies arrive? How can I track them? _

The tracking information for your publisher copies of your magazine(s) can be found in ARC:

  1. Distribution
  2. Additional Readers
  3. Navigate to the correct month with the < > arrows
  4. Find your Tracking Number and Ship Date on the right side next to your name and address

This information will not be available to you until your magazines have shipped. Y_our magazines will be delivered between the 25th-5th of each month. This may vary due to weekends or holidays._

If it is after the 10th of the month, we ask that you put in a ticket through Arc to make the distribution team aware that your magazines have not arrived yet.

_ What is the maximum number of publisher copies I can receive? _

There is no maximum amount of My Copies or publisher copies a publisher or second recipient can receive. Most people default to 150.

_ How do I increase my number of publisher copies? _

To increase your publisher copies in Arc:

  1. Distribution
  2. Additional Readers
  3. Click on your name under My Copies.
  4. Make the necessary adjustments and click Save.

_ How much do publisher copies cost? _

The approximate cost for each publisher copy (including shipping) is $1.50 - $1.75 per magazine, although this may vary.

_ How am I charged for my magazine copies? _

You are charged for every magazine that is printed every month regardless of residential, business, subscriber, or publisher copies.

Please note: If a publisher enters an address to receive 15 copies, you will be charged shipping on those deliveries because it is considered a bulk shipment.
